David Ayers
I would be interested to hear Lonely Town. All Bernstein tunes, right? The 'snooze' reports make me almost afraid to admit any interest in it.... but if I come across a vinyl or CD I'll likely pick it up. [in fact, I've been attempting to track down a copy - no luck whatsoever...] Edited June 23, 2006 by David Ayers
JohnS
I thought I should give this one a spin as it's started a couple of threads. No reason to change my opinion, Flanagan doesn't seem to involved though the ballads are pretty enough but very little seems to happen. Maybe it's the material. A better place to hear Flanagan playing some show tunes is the Savoy quartet date with Wilbur Harden where they play the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein. Jason Drake
I checked with the buying public, and Chuck is correct, if released in the US my scientific survey shows it will only sell 579 copies. Of the 579 ; 530 would be bought by people curious about the date 32 would be bought by Flanagan nutcases (completists ?) who already had the TOCJ version 13 copies would be bought Bernstein completists (nutcases ?) 1 copy would be bought by a Rodgers & Hammerstein fan who got confused in the excitement 1 copy would be bought by an elderly gent in Indiana who was trying out the internet for the first time, and got confused and thought he was getting a copy of Sinatra's "This Town" and a further 2 import copies will get lost in the back office of HMV on Oxford Street (the one by Bond Street station). 100% accurate and documented. andybleaden
Bought it when it came out on cd in Japan and never listen to it that much but its not that bad either. However Blue Note has released a lot worse domestically so as for this one ....who knows.......best go and stick it on again for that extra scientific audit that I am famed for .......
