JSngry Posted July 31, 2003 Report Posted July 31, 2003 Probably my least favorite Gaye album of the 70s, but still an excellent work. Just wondering what they've added to make a 2-CD set out of it. If there's a lot of dissective takes of "After The Dance", I'm ON it! Quote
Stefan Wood Posted July 31, 2003 Report Posted July 31, 2003 It seems like the same album repeated three times, different takes and all. All I can say is..... huh? But really, what is up with a deluxe version of the Diana Ross album? Is this the one where she does a heavy metal tune? Quote
The Mule Posted July 31, 2003 Report Posted July 31, 2003 I don't know about the new I WANT YOU, but the "deluxe edition" of LET'S GET IT ON is amazing. The sound is incredible and there's a ton of great unissued stuff which illustrates the creative bridge between WHAT'S GOIN' ON and LET'S GET IT ON. Can't recommend this one highly enough. Quote
John L Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 (edited) I love "I Want You." I think that it is one of the most underrated of Gaye's albums. On the other hand, I'm not going to lay down some big head 20s for the expensive double deluxe shit if we are just talking re-mixes of Marvin's own mixes. Edited August 1, 2003 by John L Quote
mmilovan Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 A way out of theme but, John, do you know that Marvin gets his first encouragement from Lester (Marvin used to sung jazz back than) who said to him: "Just relax and take it easy before you get to the scene"? Quote
John L Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 No, I didn't know that. An interesting piece of trivia, indeed. Quote
