It also means if the exhibition is busy it can make for a very frustrating time. I chose to miss the last Tate exhibition because I knew it would be too crowded Quote

The (very small) publishing company even offered single leaf facsimiles for framing of which I bought two that have been on my bedroom wall ever since. He was an enlightened man. Just got a free ticket for this tomorrow: https://www.staedelmuseum.de/en/holbein Quote
Ken Dryden Posted January 23, 2024 Report Posted January 23, 2024 I am not sure when I last visited an art museum but it was probably MOMA in NYC. I was surprised when my wife suggested it but we went and enjoyed a lot of it. We’ve been to the Metropolitan museum a few times and saw the Vatican Museum in 2001. Quote
ejp626 Posted February 18, 2024 Report Posted February 18, 2024 I just ran down to Buffalo to see the Clyfford Still exhibit. https://buffaloakg.org/art/exhibitions/clyfford-still-legacy-buffalo-0 This is a four room exhibit of all 33 Still paintings in the Albright-Knox collection. It runs a few more weeks until March 11. I was definitely glad to have an opportunity to see the museum now that is has expanded a bit with a new addition. There is also another abstract painter on view, Stanley Whitney, but I must confess I was very underwhelmed by this exhibit: https://buffaloakg.org/art/exhibitions/how-high-moon Quote

Archibald Motley has always been a favorite of mine. 👍 There was a comprehensive Motley exhibit that went around the States in 2014-5. I managed to catch it at the Chicago Cultural Center. It's documented here: https://whitney.org/exhibitions/archibald-motley#exhibition-catalogue I was just in Montreal checking out a well thought-out exhibit that pairs Georgia O'Keefe and Henry Moore. Really nice. It runs through June 2. https://www.mbam.qc.ca/en/exhibitions/okeeffe-and-moore/ Quote
OliverM Posted March 8, 2024 Report Posted March 8, 2024 Looking forward to seeing the Robert Ryman exhibit in Paris (Musée de l'Orangerie), this coming Sunday or next week. It's called "Le regard en actes" (more or less the view in action). First large scale exhibit of the artist in France since 1981. Quote

hopkins Posted March 15, 2024 Report Posted March 15, 2024 Rothko exhibit here in Paris. A bit overwhelming given that you can get so absorbed in a single painting and there are hundreds. Well worth a visit. Quote
