That Brown skit is a classic. Murphy is a gifted impressionist. The fact that he could sing a bit just made him that much better. He can do Michael Jackson and Elvis to a tee. The Brown piece is on the Eddie Murphy Best of SNL compilation along with a lot of other memorable stuff. Good Murphy, at least IMO, is better than good Dave Chapelle and Chapelle is no slouch.

What ever happened to him? Talk about a shooting star. Outside of "Bowfinger" he hasn't done anything worth mentioning in years. Talk about some brutal career decisions.

Up over and out.

I was referencing this skit at work the other day and was disturbed to find that no one knew what I was talking about; thanks for remembering, SS1!

No shit! Him and Robin Williams have both squandered all their considerable talents by converting into "family friendly film stars". To see brilliant comedians like this star in crap like RV is just too damn depressing!

Remember Robin Williams back when he used to be on HBO's Young Comedians series?

"HARK! THE MOON, LIKE A TESTICLE, HANGS LOW IN THE SKY!"

:g

Now if I could just find a copy of Robin's "Birth, Life & Death of a Sperm" skit....that was AWESOME!

Hysterical. Was that from Raw?

no. from delirious.

trying to remember whether the Mr T "I heard you been making jokes about me" and Michael Jackson "I'm gonna moonwalk all over you!" sketches are also from this show.

When I first heard this skit from Delirious when I was a kid, I'd never heard a James Brown song, yet the skit was funny. Now that I've heard a shitloada JB songs, this skit is MF hilarious!!!!

Murphy is not on the public radar, in the way that he was, but he is no shooting star. He has made loads of money, as have his films, in Shrek & Shrek 2, Dr. Doolittle, and the other family films. I think he just grew up.
