Ron S Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 JJJ set serial # 4903 arrived yesterday... Dude! So what's the SS1 verdict? Quote
Soulstation1 Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 ain't greazzzzy........... but i likezzzz so far...... all his sidemen are top notch on these sessions Quote
Ken Dryden Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 I got mine long ago and it was #1617. At least Mosaic is still in good hands with Michael Cuscuna. It is hard to imagine him selling out to some conglomerate that would promptly turn it into another purely commercial, barely jazz venture, like has happened to so many once-proud jazz labels in recent years... We're safe from the Complete Warner Bros. Studio Sessions of David Sanborn or Kenny G Mosaic Select. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 i'd say this set gets stronger as i get into it any fav songs? Quote
Soulstation1 Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 (edited) Noj from now on, you will be known at No-JJJ-y Edited July 17, 2006 by Soulstation1 Quote
billyboy Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 Looks like a set or two resurfaced on the Mosaic Last Chance page! Quote
Ron S Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 I think SS1 was able to have them put this very set on layaway for him. Might be something you want to consider--but call them quickly! Quote
Noj Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 I'm insane. I bought it. I'm going to lock my credit card away until 2008. Quote
LJazz Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 I'm insane. I bought it. I'm going to lock my credit card away until 2008. Quote
LJazz Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 Looks like a set or two resurfaced on the Mosaic Last Chance page! How does this happen -- returns? Quote
king ubu Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 I'm insane. I bought it. I'm going to lock my credit card away until 2008. Hey, once you'll play it and hear all the wonderful music, there's no way you'll regret! Quote
Noj Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 I'm immediately cutting a check to my credit card company to cover the cost of this and my Concord order. Now I feel slightly less guilty. Quote
sidewinder Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 I'm immediately cutting a check to my credit card company to cover the cost of this and my Concord order. Now I feel slightly less guilty. You won't regret picking up the JJJ set. Sets like that don't come round every day and once they are gone (again), they are gone. Quote
David Ayers Posted July 25, 2006 Author Report Posted July 25, 2006 Like he said. When they're gone, they're, er... well, you get the idea... Quote
Kyo Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 I don't know how I did it but I just resisted temptation AGAIN. I have the J.J. Inc. CD and it never really grabbed me (neither did the two Eminent volumes on Blue Note). So the only reason why I would be interested in this set are the sidemen and that's just not enough at a price point of $142 (including shipping to Germany). Wheh! ... keeps mumbling "I don't need another six hours of trombone jazz" ... Quote
sal Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 I'm insane. I bought it. I'm going to lock my credit card away until 2008. Congrats!! You won't regret it. Quote
BFrank Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 I'm immediately cutting a check to my credit card company to cover the cost of this and my Concord order. Now I feel slightly less guilty. Hey, Noj.......MAJOR mistake. This set sux! You just blew a hundred (and whatever) dollars - never to be seen again. You might as well use those new disks for beer coasters. (btw................it ROCKS!) Quote
Soulstation1 Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 he'll always be No-JJJ-y............ Quote
JohnS Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 For the record a couple of tracks appeared on a UK Affinity lp, both alternates, which are not on this set. Quote
king ubu Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 For the record a couple of tracks appeared on a UK Affinity lp, both alternates, which are not on this set. Can you provide more info, please? What tunes from what date? And why would they have been omitted from the set? Quote
trane_fanatic Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 It's gone for good again, I think. Quote
JohnS Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 I'll try to find out the details of the missing tracks. I understand Mosaic know. Quote
