This is one I have only ever seen once and predates his Blue Note work

Here is the line up (thanks to Doug Payne)

Now I know some came out as George Benson records but I saw one lp that was lonnie smith

Oh, and there are some tracks from it on the recent re-issues of George Benson's first two Columbia dates.

How it is? It's funky and good! The only thing the stinks is that all the tunes are short and fade-out (some right before the organ solo starts!!!) and makes one wonder if the full versions of the tunes are somewhere sitting in a vault.

I'd like you to be right Jim. One of the big problems with Columbia is that they had this short track syndrome for years - even "Kind of blue" has short tracks compared to what Miles had been doing at Prestige. But I bet the full versions have been ditched.
