Leeway Posted July 28, 2003 Report Posted July 28, 2003 In the new (Sept) issue of JT, there is an "Overdue Ovation" article about, and interview with, Grachan Moncur III. One interesting aspect of the article is it indicates that Moncur had a dispute with Blue Note over the rights to his musical compositions, which led to a break with the label. Moncur insisted on keeping control of the rights. That's an aspect I've not seen discussed much, particularly in connection with BN. Apparently, Moncur is benefiting now from royalties that he would not otherwise have reaped. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted July 29, 2003 Report Posted July 29, 2003 it was mentioned in a JazzWeekly interview, which can be found here (link) What a sleazy website those guys at Jazz Weekly run! The frigging thing tries to plant 2 tracking cookies and then tries to install some spyware. Do their web page designers realize what they're doing or do they just insert whatever paid advertisers they get into their code? BTW, in reading this interview I felt that I had read it before. Didn't this come out back in January? Later, Kevin Quote
John B Posted July 29, 2003 Report Posted July 29, 2003 (edited) BTW, in reading this interview I felt that I had read it before. Didn't this come out back in January? Yeah, this is the same interview that has been up on AllAboutJazz for a while. If, as Kevin says, JazzWeekly is trying to install spyware and is using someone else's content I think I shall be avoiding them in the future. here is the link to the interview on AAJ: AAJ interview with Grachan Moncur III Edited July 29, 2003 by John B Quote
