Big Al Posted May 6, 2006 Report Posted May 6, 2006 While looking at LPs on eBay, I notice some of them say "mono w/ ear." What does "ear" mean? Quote

Original New York Blue Note LP's were pressed by a company named Plastilyte. The ear symbol on the runoff groove area indicates that this is a Plastilyte pressing. Quote

And I've always assumed that the thing that looks kinda like an ear is actually a curved, stylized "P". Quote

Jazzmoose Posted May 6, 2006 Report Posted May 6, 2006 Does this mean no one else can ask any dumb questions today? And if so, do I have to delete this post, or will it be done automatically? Quote
Big Al Posted May 6, 2006 Author Report Posted May 6, 2006 What on EARTH are you TALKING about? Dumb questions around here? Quote
7/4 Posted May 6, 2006 Report Posted May 6, 2006 Be careful...remember the stupid question thread? Quote
Big Al Posted May 6, 2006 Author Report Posted May 6, 2006 Believe me, I could easily start a "Dumb Question of the Day" thread for the rest of my life! Quote
AllenLowe Posted May 6, 2006 Report Posted May 6, 2006 well, remember the old saying: there are no stupid questions, only stupid people asking them - Quote

patricia Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 (edited) Pay no attention to 7/4. The only way you will learn all the weird little things that people know and you don't is by asking. You'd be surprised at how pleased most people are that others are interested in what they are passionate about, particularly jazz. Also, who else would you ask? I've found that the people who gather here are as obcessed with vinyl, particularly jazz vinyl as I am. Ask away. Edited May 8, 2006 by patricia Quote
