Sets you wish Mosaic would do

Concord could make it a $300 box, but wonder what the market is for that.

There's got to be some innovative way to market it.  Either downloads, or maybe release it on DVD discs...at 4.7 gb, they could get 5 or 6 concerts per disc.  I'm probably dreaming.

Yep.  Concord more likely to do a single 35 minute compilation disc called "Maybeck Pianists Play for Lovers".

The set that I'd like to see released is the John Hammond produced Vanguard sessions.

I already have most of those in other forms, but it would be good to have them presented in proper order. Not sure how much of an audience there would be, since much (all?) has already been released and seems to be still available.

Yes, I can see it now: The Complete John Hammond Vanguard Sessions. That would be a beautiful set that I would buy in a minute. I believe the Vanguard material is still owned by the Welk corporation where it has been badly mishandled. While they did a fine job of remastering the Welk people reissued the music in an utterly chaotic fashion. It's about time this classic material was made available in the order in which Hammond recorded it.

Mel Powell Septet ‎ VRS-8004

Brother John Sellers Sings Blues And Folk Songs VRS-8005

Sir Charles Thompson Quartet ‎ VRS-8006

Joe Newman And His Band  VRS-8007

Buck Clayton Meets Ruby Braff ‎ VRS-8008

Sir Charles Thompson And His Band (Featuring Coleman Hawkins) ‎ VRS 8009

Urbie Green And His Band ‎ VRS-8010

Jimmy Rushing Sings The Blues ‎ VRS-8011

Vic Dickenson Showcase Volume 3 ‎ VRS-8012

Vic Dickenson Showcase Volume 4 ‎ VRS-8013

Sam Most Sextet ‎ VRS-8014

The Mel Powell Bandstand ‎ VRS 8015

Don Elliott Doubles In Brass (Featuring Ellis Larkins, Piano)  VRS-8016

Nat Pierce Band  VRS-8017

Sir Charles Thompson Trio  VRS-8018

Ruby Braff & Ellis Larkins  - 2 Part Inventions In Jazz, Vol. 1 ‎ VRS 8019

Ruby Braff & Ellis Larkins  - 2 Part Inventions In Jazz, Vol. 2 ‎ VRS 8020

Some of these probably were not produced by John Hammond. Next were a series of 12" LPs, VRS-8501 ff.

FNAC in France did a great job with their superb LP reissues of Vanguard material but they didn't quite get all of it. I think it would make perfect sense for Mosaic to do what they've made their name doing over the years and issue a truly complete Vanguard box.
