David Ayers Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 (edited) I know that the Okka catalogue is now distributed by Atavistic, but the Okka site itself has been down for a while and I wonder if they are still in business. Anybody know anything? Have I missed something? Edited April 23, 2006 by David Ayers Quote
shawn·m Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 Hi David, I noticed the same thing. I don’t think atavistic carries all Okka’s titles, just Vandermark and Brotzmann releases. The site’s been down for about a week and email to info@okkadisk goes unanswered (I just finished posting a similar question to yours on another site before remembering that Chuck knows Bruno to one degree or another). Chuck, do you know what's up with Bruno? P.S. and a big thanks to Chuck for introducing me to Okka’s catalog! Quote
rostasi Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 I'd love to hear what's up with Bruno nowadays! We worked together when I was manager of a record store in Chicago. Really great (and funny!) guy who always was in search of new sounds! I thought I had heard that he'd moved out of Illinois - Michigan or Wisconsin perhaps? Wonder if he still has his Einstürzende Neubaten tattoo... Rod Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 First - Okka and Atavistic have always swapped cds to sell on their respective sites. Second - the Okka site was working about a week ago when I last visited. Third - I received an email from Bruno on the 10th of April. Fourth - if you need some Okkas, I can supply them too. Rod, Bruno bought a bar in Milwaukee a couple years back and now lives there. Quote
rostasi Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 (edited) Thanks Chuck! Please give him my best regards next time you guys talk. I was happy that he had his own label because he often had good, eclectic taste in music. (tho it was quite a while before I found out that it was actually his!) label.
