JSngry Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 I liked it a lot, in an "autumnal" kind of way. Quote
Guy Berger Posted May 15, 2017 Report Posted May 15, 2017 Henry has a new composition being featured by NPR: "I Never" Quote
JSngry Posted May 15, 2017 Report Posted May 15, 2017 Hosted by Nadia Sirota, I see! I liked her this record: Not at all "Baroque", at least not as you would think. Also good to hear Henry playing. The guy's a treasure as player as well as composer. Quote

Henry's previous album (Old Locks & Irregular Verbs) was also released early in some format. Anyway, this is wonderful news. Anybody have a tracklist? Edited December 30, 2017 by Guy Berger Quote
Guy Berger Posted January 1, 2018 Report Posted January 1, 2018 Update: I bought an advance copy and listened to it one time so far. Great stuff - anybody who's liked what Henry has produced since 2009 will enjoy this too. Quote
king ubu Posted January 3, 2018 Report Posted January 3, 2018 Great news! Still miss the previous one on which he's not playing. Quote
Guy Berger Posted January 16, 2018 Report Posted January 16, 2018 This arrived! Excellent paternity leave listening Quote
Guy Berger Posted January 25, 2018 Report Posted January 25, 2018 Good news - apparently Pi has also recorded or will soon record Double Up Plus (dedicated to Ahmad Jamal, Barry Harris, Eddie Palmieri, Muhal Richard Abrams, Cecil Taylor and Joseph Kubera). Not sure about release date. Quote

Happy days That is good news. 😀 When I feel a twinge of disappointment that Henry isn’t playing on this release I remind myself that a don’t feel any loss of the Duke isn’t at the piano on many an Ellington release. Same for Gerald Wilson plus countless other top flight composers/ arrangers. Quote
