Wynton Blakey CD set

I don't even bother keeping track of Wynton anymore, having gradually dwindled down to next to zero interest in his music ... but I just noticed a 2006 release 2 CD compilation of his tenure with Art Blakey that might be worth the $16 :

I used to have all the Blakey vinyl with Wynton (many included Branford too) and I think those days were his best. Many of what I remember as the better performances appear to be included in this compilation.

Not sure on the label details ... anyone know ?

This is among the weakest material in the Blakey cannon. The trumpet slurs on the bridge of 'In Walked Bud' are so wrong, it's not even funny. Never has anyone so thoroughly misunderstood Monk.

If you believe jazzdisco.org, this tune was recorded in January 1982, i.e. just days before Monk died (2/17/82).

This seems to be the same Blakey live material that has been reissued under Marsalis' name on other (probably bootleg) labels:

According to AMG, the sessions were recorded in 1980.

This material has been released so many times it isn't funny anymore. Often under Wynton's name. With a little scrounging, you can assemble it all from cutout editions for a lot less than the $16.
