Richard Nevins decided to stop releasing Yazoo CDs. He still does the transfers and remasterings of John Tefteller's excellent Blues Images CDs, though.

So, Yazoo has, I guess, effectively closed shop. But thanks for the heads-up on the Blues Images label — I hadn't heard anything about it. Any discs you'd recommend and/or like from this label?

John Tefteller, the owner of Blues Images, issues a CD with his blues calendar each year. The older CDs (Vols.1-8) are available separately, the latest one currently only with the calendar; they're all "Yazoo quality" and very highly recommended. I have just posted a thread on Blues Images.

Just listened to Favorite Country Blues Guitar-Piano Duets 1929-1937 (LP) the other day.

When I was reading Henry Townsend's autobiography, I listened to St Louis Blues 1929-1935 - The Depression (LP) and Twenty First Street Stomp - The Piano Blues of St Louis (CD).

And I recall listening to Bo Carter: Banana in Your Fruit Basket (CD) recently - beautiful guitar.

Whenever I listen to one of my Yazoos, I always pick up on something in the music that I hadn't noticed before.

I'm double-posting this, since I also put it in the "What are you listening to now" thread. Even before Late's prompt, I had an urge to hear this wonderful collection.

IIRC this photo appeared on the SHORPY website some time ago, and I immediately had a hunch this might make some beautiful cover picure for a down-home blues anthology. :D So I guess Yazoo had thought so first too (or is this a VERY recent reisue)?

A different cover from the one on my LP:

I like Jeff's cover better, though I think that that the LP cover better conveys the idea of a lonesome road.

No, it's not recent - 1991, I believe. I've had this CD at least 20 years.

I don't have this one, and had never heard it until I checked the sound samples from Amazon — really nice! Now I'm going to have to dig out the tracks I have with Sam Collins.
