Ron S Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Ron - you're being generous by callling that stuff beer, ya know! That's why I said "swillin'". But now we're derailing FFA's birthday thread. WTF, whenever we can rag on Conn, it's worth it, and I'm sure FFA will approve. Quote
DukeCity Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 Happy Birthday, Paulie!!! We all chipped in and got you a little something. (too bad we didn't have this last summer for Porkapalooza 2005) Just wait there by the front door. Should be pulling up any minute... Quote
Free For All Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 Thanks for the kind words everyone! Mrs. FFA is off at a gig until tomorrow, so it was a quiet day (nothing at all wrong with that). We'll probably go out tomorrow or Sunday. Took the dog to the park, got a haircut and am going to make some homemade pizza for dinner. I appreciate this place and am grateful to be a part of this group. I like that "what unites us is greater than what divides us". Good to be among so many music lovers. Glenn, let's fire up that sucker and whip up some 'cue for eveyone! Quote
Free For All Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 BTW, I was also relieved to be the subject of the thread titled "Happy Birthday..." and not "What an asshole..."! Quote
GA Russell Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 OK, if you insist... Happy Birthday, Asshole! Glad it's been a good one! Quote
Soul Stream Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 I'm playing some Blakey with Curtis Fuller in your honor! Happy Birthday! Quote
Free For All Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 Thank you, I'm honored. BTW SS, are you aware of that Curtis side called "Boss of the Soul Stream Trombone"? Have I asked you about that before? Quote
GA Russell Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 By the way, FFA, what instrument does your wife play that she is away on a gig? I didn't know that she is a musician. My girl friend plays the flute, mostly in Columbus, Ohio. Quote
Free For All Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 Mrs. FFA is also a trombonist! She dallies in the classical genre fortunately. She is the trombone prof at the U. of Missouri at KC Conservatory. Thank god she plays in a different genre than me- the last last thing I want is to get a call like: "Hey Paul, we need a trombone for this upcoming gig, is YOUR WIFE available??" Every girlfriend I ever had eventually got bugged because I spent too much time practicing and playing gigs. Now I'm married to someone who practices trombone more than I do! Be careful what you wish for guys! And finally, we're convinced that our dog thinks all humans play trombone. He sings along when she practices her loud orchestral excerpts. He falls asleep when I practice jazz. Thanks, please trip your waitresses. Quote
Soul Stream Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 Thank you, I'm honored. BTW SS, are you aware of that Curtis side called "Boss of the Soul Stream Trombone"? Have I asked you about that before? I don't know if you've asked, buy I love that recording! Quote
