GregK Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 my usual local indie shop just told me that his distributor has it and he will be receiving it this Friday. Quote
mikeweil Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 There's a positive review in the latest Jazz Times issue. Quote
GA Russell Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 OK, I'm now guessing the BMG/Your Music will get it February 10. Quote

jazzypaul Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 The difference between Sony/Bmg and Iraq is that at least in Iraq you get to have a gun joke I heard a couple of years back... what's the best way to stop the spread of AIDS? Let BMG distribute it. Quote
DMP Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 Just saw it at my local shop - a nice looking (and heavy) package, $107. Quote
7/4 Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 I saw it on the shelf at J&R this afternoon. I'll have to buy it some other day... Quote
GregK Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 (edited) anyone notice how the cover slipcase is, umm, anatomically detailed? Edited October 19, 2007 by GregK Quote
BFrank Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 Got an email from CD Universe that it was being "processed" today. I think it means that it's ready to ship. Quote
jazzbo Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 I just looked at my order at cduniverse. . . says "Shipping." Wahoo Quote
GregK Posted October 21, 2007 Report Posted October 21, 2007 I don't understand the organization of this set. If Red China Blues was the first recorded, why is it on Disc 6? It is mostly chronological, but not totally. Odd. Disappointing booklet too- not much information (Buckmaster's essay is entertaining and informative, but brief; Tom Terrell's is pretty useless) and LOTS of pictures. Quote

I would guess because 'Red China Blues' is considered more an 'outside' project. It's not Miles' band or anything, he just happens to be playing on it. Quote

PHILLYQ Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 I cracked it open yesterday and played disc 1 and WOW!!! Unedited and souding clear(original version seemed muddy at times), this is Miles going back to the future. Tomorrow night is disc 2 and I'm juiced about it. Quote
JohnS Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Appetite whetted. Unfortunately UK buyers are still waiting. Quote
brownie Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Same on this side of the Channel Quote
sal Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Got mine. GREAT packaging! Definitely my favorite of the Miles sets in that dept. Can't wait to start listening. Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Paid $103 and change from local bricks 'n motor, loving it so far, trying to write something 'bout it. I think disc 6 was originally going to be disc 1...changed to make it seem more like it's all 'bout On the Corner not Beyond the Corner? Notes ain't much, maybe Henry Kaiser and the Yo Miles crew can elucidate... Quote
medjuck Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Just used the "search music" at the top of this page and got it for $99 plus shiping at CD Universe where it's number 2 on the best seller list! Quote
king ubu Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 Just cancelled the Amazon UK pre-order (44.5 £) in favour or Amazon Germany (50 €, roughly 10 € less than with UK amazon)! Still hoping to get this one soon! Quote

Still hoping to get this one soon! Where did you find that price, Flurin? I checked, and Amazon Germany shows €59,95 for me, plus shipping costs of €14,00. That works out to $105.85 for me. My Amazon UK order totalled £45.62, which equals $93.55. So it's still cheaper. Quote

JPC or zweitausendeins.de don't deduct VAT, but Amazon always does for me! Quote
king ubu Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 Oh, and shipping is free for Swiss orders that are 20 or more € - that's great! (And I tend to think somehow fair, as there's no Swiss Amazon... Marketplace orders cost 6€ shipping, even if it's just for one CD, now that's rather crazy, on the other hand, but Amazon.de themselves are pretty attractive for Swiss customers... you have to try and order for 20-30€, so there are no shipping costs and no custom/taxes, either... that's not possible for the Miles box, but that I have to live with... let's just hope them douaniers are sleepy when that particular package passes by!) Quote
king ubu Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 on second thought, ordering from a marketplace seller for 55€ plus 6€ international shipping (assuming US is the same as Europe, I don't know about that) might make it a rather attractive option again... Quote

Unfortunately shipping to US is €14, instead of €6. Making even this option not worth switching from Amazon UK, in my case. Thanks for the info though - it's better to consider as many options as possible. Quote
