She's listed as one of the arrangers on this none-too-shabby Kim Weston (no relation to Randy, but nevertheless a delightful coincidence) side: Worth looking for... Quote
brownie Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Melba Liston conducted the orchestra (and wrote the arrangements for the Jazzland album by Junior Mance 'The Jazz Soul of Hollywood'. The album was reissued as part of this Fresh Sound CD: She also wrote a number of arrangements for the Dizzy Gillespie Orchestra back in the late '50s including 'My Reverie' and 'Anitra's Dance'. epistrophy007 Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Liston wrote also the arrangements for an album by Gloria Lynne in 1959; Lonely and Sentimental (also issued under the title Afterhours) There is also a beautifull song titeld 'We Never Kissed' written (text and music) by Liston. The settings varied from just rhythm section, small big band to "fullsize" orchestra. It's one of Lynne's better recordings. j. Quote
