I guess I had a suspicion. Frankly, I find books more interesting and useful. I've got plenty of recordings. I learn a lot more from books - including books about jazz/music. Lots of good reading suggestions on this board. Check 'em out.

Picked up this 2005 reprint of Roy Carr's "Century of Jazz" at Borders for $7.99! (in them huge stacks near the registers.)

Wacky book and probably not the quintessential literatie jazz snob's pick but a great, great selection of pix, art, ads and lp covers. Chapters on organists, messengers, soul jazz, jazz movies etc... and even a spot on Mosaic.

Cheap enough to buy one for each can!

Sure wish they'd extended that 30% off deal until the 20th when the Ray Charles Atlantic sessions are scheduled to be released. Even at Border's inflated prices, that would have made this available at a fairly reasonable cost.

Are there Borders stores outside of the US? Forgive me if that's a stupid question, but I really don't know.

If there are Borders stores outside of the US, don't they offer the occasional coupon as they do in the US? There always seems to be frustration regarding the US-only coupons.

Is it not possible to pre-order and use the discount in that way? I know that it's not possible to use the coupon online (right?) but could you order perhaps in-store? I'm sure you've already thought of this.
