I don't hesitate recommending this one. If you like 'Mo Greens' I'm sure you will enjoy this one too:

I think it's still available as a Japanese import from the Bards at $16.99 - one of Freddie Roach's best.

I'm a big Freddie Roach fan and I seem to like the stuff some souljazzers DON'T such as "All That's Good"!

All of them are good! But that one, with Calvin Newborn and Conrad Lester - phew!

If Freddie has one failing, it's doing his own sleeve notes. They're wonderful sleeve notes; I love them. But he doesn't say anything about the musicians playing with him. So I know almost nothing about Conrad, except he made four LPs, two with Freddie, one each with Joe Carroll & Jimmy McGriff. And on every one, he plays his ass off!

What a facinatiing resource . Real pleasure to read that. Not been on that site for a while...a long while

Lucky enough to own all of his stuff and wish only a little more had been recorded

Thanks for posting it

http://www.doollee.com/PlaywrightsR/RoachFreddie.htm

says about a piece called soul pieces....too obvious not to be him from 1969

:D

well maybe not

Blimey! Well done Andy!

It's almost certain that it's him, but if anyone's in contact with Amiri Baraka, I'm sure he's one to know.

I could of course claim all credit ( and of course will when the board is devalued again) but Mr Google deserves all the credit.

A cunning search using the latest theater (theatre over here of course luvvie) type of search terms........very specialised and geeky

search under freddie roach and plays on google and ignore boxing references!

see what others can turn up as I got distracted with other substring searches

Both of those Ike Quebec albums are wonderful. And not just for Freddie.

Amen to that!!!! Even though the best track on Heavy Soul doesn't even have Roach on it...I'm of course referring to that brilliant duet of Nature Boy between Ike & Milt Hinton.

I listen to this twofer alot, great albums well worth seeking out...

I have that twofer myself Shawn, haven't listened to it in quite some time, probably as it didn't really blow me away on first listen, but you know how sometimes things don't hit you first time and then later you're wondering why you don't listen to it more often.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
