The French label Marge is releasing this month 'Ted Curson in Paris/Live at the Sunside'

curson-2.jpg

It was recorded last August at the Paric Sunside club.

Curson was accompanied by Pierrick Pedron, alto, Guillaume Naturel, flute, Alain Jean-Marie, piano, Gilles Naturel, bass, Philippe Soirat, drums and several vocalists!

Saw Ted at a much earlier date in Paris - at the Chat Qui Peche in rue de la Huchette in April 1968, just before the "evenements" of May '68!

Slammin'! :tup

just some idle trivia but i used to see both those guys on my block (6th st. & 2nd ave) in the '60s. i've seen Ted recently in NYC at IAJE conferences but unfortunately didn't hear him play. he looks like a happy buddha!

Anyone heard Curson lately?

Saw a note the other day on a trumpet players forum by Wilmer Wise who is a NY freelancer and Philly native. He said he had spent the afternoon at Ted's house in Jersey and Ted is still going strong. Apparently Curson spends a great deal of time in Finland where he is very popular....

I know that he's playing in Pori Jazz festival, Finland every year since 1968 - that's 40 years in a row
