Claude
If I understand ebay listings correctly, there was no reserve price for this auction, as it should normally state "reserve has been met" next to the price. Or does that dissapear when the auction is finished? But if you look at the bid history you must also check the bid time. I think the scenario was like this: "happycddog" made a $200 proxy bid on June 6. The following days "cabot02" tried to outbid him by increasing his bids by $10 every time. Of course he was outbid everytime by happycddog's $200 proxy bid. On June 11, 4:07, cabot02 - very desperate - made the >$280 proxy bid that won him the auction at the end. In the hours that followed, happycddog made two attempts to beat him, then renounced. Could that be correct?
Claude
But there is something that I cannot explain: Why did cabot02 make that >$280 proxy bid when he was already the highest bidder with $205 on June10 ?
Claude
Well, I have made this too, when I learned I couldn't be online at the time when the auction ended. Increased the proxy bid by a safer amount. But I always stayed within reasonable limits
Guest Mnytime
The full version of this (with booklit and such) is coming out in 3 months or so someone explain these to me. Guest Chaney
Isn't this the Oscar Peterson 5 CD set that was selling (on eBay) for around $25 a few months back? Oscar Peterson London House Sessions- Sealed If yes, current high bid of $102.50 and reserve not yet met?!
Matthew
It was, if fact, the "buy it now" price was about $20.00, which I picked up right away.

wulfman
Check the seller's first page of feedback... looks he bought around 30 positive feedback points for 0.99 each before his foray into selling... If only I had some feedback to sell...
Claude
Jeez, I didn't know there were guys on ebay selling positive feedback (and getting free positive feedback in return): Positive Feedback + Amazing Recipe for Hummus ($0.99) "I will give you positive feedback very fast once you purchase this recipe" 3 GUACAMOLE Recipes~ FAST FEEDBACK!! ($0.99) "I love to give positive feedback to paying bidders, and I do so immediately after payment is received through Paypal!!" Jazzmoose
Claude, this has been a major racket on eBay for as long as I've been there. The worst was when people were taking advantage of the charity auctions for 9/11 victims by padding their feedback, and eBay was reluctant to crack down due to their flagwaving over the charity in their press releases. Don't worry, got my money back. "Gave me a boner." loser. Response by phoneloser-rbcp - Buyer does crack, lives with his mom, wets the bed. pryan
Some nice quips in there, vibes. I wonder how some of the buyers react to those responses. Edited July 4, 2003 by pryan
BeBop
So, how are eBay prices in general these days (craziness aside). Seems like things are selling pretty cheap. I've got a heap of stuff to sell, much of it semi-desireable (Basra, True Blue, Symphony for Improvisers), but I don't want to be selling into a market where these things bring $10 or less. (Yeah, I know I can set minimum bids, but why go to the trouble if they aren't likely to be met?)
Jazzmoose
Basra and True Blue will probably only go for a couple of bucks. Better sell them to me, instead...
BeBop
Actually, looking at the completed auctions. Basra's been bringing $10-15. Seems like it was "worth" considerably more not long ago.
shrugs
I think Basra has been dropping ever since the word of how great the JRVG is started to spread. Maybe the Spanish version too has filled holes for people?
Tom in RI
Would this qualify as ebay craziness: http://half.ebay.com/cat/buy/prod.cgi?cpid...=1876&meta_id=
