BFrank Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 Whoa! That Fuller set sold for $200!!! Now THAT'S nuts! Also, Thad Jones went for $150! When someone recently mentioned that they grabbed one for around $75, I thought that was a little high at the time. Some serious inflation on those sets lately. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 That is unfuckingbelievable! At times like this, I wish I was in it for the money. Of course, I'd probably blow it, listen to the set the day before the auction closed and cancel it... Quote
Stefan Wood Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 I'm sort of tootin my own horn here, but I thought this was crazy. I just sold two Japanese pressing Verve REISSUES of two Buddy DeFranco/Sonny Clark lps for a total of $140. REISSUES!!!! Quote

Son-of-a-Weizen Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 Wow. Blue Mitchell has only been OOP for mere WEEKS and it just sold for $105.25. ...and there's another one (also at $105) due up in an hour. Not sure I'd want to buy from a no feedback seller in Russia though. Quote
jazzbo Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 I bought a copy of the Lewis Mosaic from Mosaic shortly after Charles Lourie died; it was apparently an extra promo copy that he had in his collection. . . paid the 45 dollar face value for the set. Was so happy to do so! Quote
Claude Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 This could become the cheapest Giuffre set on Ebay since it went OOP: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=4005424743 Seller from Russia, zero feedback, no paypal Quote
PHILLYQ Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Claude, This guy is looking for cash or money order, has zero feedback, lives in Russia and is an Ebay member for the last 6 days. I wouldn't risk a dime on that... Quote
jacknife Posted April 9, 2004 Author Report Posted April 9, 2004 This could become the cheapest Giuffre set on Ebay since it went OOP Wish I had the guts to go for this but I took a bit safer route and bought the Giuffre set at "buy it now" for $135. I've been wanting this one for a while, hopefully it's in good shape! Quote
Claude Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 $89 for the Giuffre set from Russia, less than the Mosaic sale price ($96). Quote
Brad Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 I love Barry Harris but this auction strikes me as a little nuts. Quote
J.A.W. Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 (edited) I love Barry Harris but this auction strikes me as a little nuts. ...especially since it's a currently available CD - at least in Japan. Hiroshi Tanno should be able to get it. Edited April 9, 2004 by J.A.W. Quote
wesbed Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 I payed about $50 for this set, last week, at Border's. They had it, I wanted it, and didn't feel like waiting for it. If I'm reading this eBay post correctly, this is the Columbia Hot Fives & Sevens Louis Armstrong box. Currently listed at $19.99 with a little less than 24 hours to go. >link< It could be a good price for somebody, unless the price jumps in the last couple of minutes. Quote

What will it be worth when it really does go OOP? I can't say anything. Like a dumbass, not long ago I bid on an LP set that was still in print. Thad Jones or Parlan, I think. My max bid was about $20 over what it sold for. I realized this oversight before auction ended. Luckily, it ended up about $10 less than my max and it was stone mint. Someone got a nice deal on a Hill LP set a few days ago..$114. Asleep at the wheel again. Quote
