I saw this as a cut-out about a year ago for like $9.99. (Actually, I was with a friend, and he snapped it up - but still, only $9.99.) Quote

WD45 Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Now that is a shipping CHARGE. For headphones even. Probably under 6 oz. Damn. Quote
RDK Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 One of the latest "tricks" for sellers is to charge an excessive amount on shipping, thereby keeping top bid prices down and save on Ebay's fee cut. They may get less money for the actual item, but make up the difference on shipping. Quote
Daniel A Posted January 8, 2004 Report Posted January 8, 2004 Why didn't anyone think of this before... From the item description: Japanese Original Item which was available in in a quantity of 500 copies only. Definetely OUT OF PRINT! This is one of most unique release projects. Paraphrasing the lengthy text on the LP, Yoshihide Otomo recorded an album and pressed up to 500 copies. Then he played these 500 copies continuously for three weeks at Xebec hall in Kobe in an attempt to wear out the records. Of the sounds created during the three weeks of playing the 500 records continuously he composed another album. This double LP set has one LP on black vinyl and one one clear vinyl. The black vinyl is one of the 500 that played continuously, and the clear vinyl LP is the second composition based on sounds created by the playing of the black vinyl LP. This took place in 1996-97, and the LP was released in 1997, 500 copies only. The LP´s come in a clear, printed PVC sleeve with an essay by Yoshihide Otomo explaining the process, written both in English and Japanese. jacknife Posted January 17, 2004 Author Report Posted January 17, 2004 Chico Hamilton Am I missing something here? I know it just went oop but $225 Quote
cliffpeterson Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 the really strange thing about that hamilton auction is that there is a second one that ends a day earlier that is half the price. one would think that, at this point, the earlier auction would have the larger price. plus there is no cross over in the bidders from one auction to the next. Quote
Guest Chaney Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 The two bidders responsible for driving up the price on that Hamilton Mosaic BOTH deserve a good smack. Quote

They may get less money for the actual item, but make up the difference on shipping. Yeah, I did that on some of my auctions. A penny min. bid with a $3.50 shipping charge for an LP. Ebay still got some extra fees for the PayPal amount. Quote
Aftab Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 (edited) Um . . . hello, Shank/Cooper Mosaic only $39! ya gotta check this out! Edited January 19, 2004 by Aftab Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 That seller used to be over at BNBB. Is he here? or AAJ? B) Quote
vibes Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 rries (Bob) is a good guy. The first time I bought a CD off anybody at the BNBB, it was from him. I recently won one of his eBay auctions, and everything went smoothly there as well. I don't recall seeing him here or at AAJ, which is unfortunate. Quote
