Claude
I like the title of this obscure CD: "The jazz masters - 100 years of Swing" - Cecil Taylor http://cgi.ebay.de/CD-Klavierspezialist-Ce...1QQcmdZViewItem

sidewinder
look at the Philips/Ventura set!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >yikes!< ← $688! ← That's it. I'm putting my copy on ebay along with the Nat Cole and Maynard and retiring ! Edited August 10, 2005 by sidewinder
Dave James
$688 for the Ventura/Phillips and the auction still has 5 1/2 hours to run. This has to be close to the highest price any Mosaic has ever fetched, with the possible exception of the Cole or the Ferguson, both of which were considerably larger sets. I mean, this is an excellent outing, but I did the math all by myself and this works out to over $115 per CD. Someone needs to have their friggin' head examined. Up over and out. Jazzmoose
Ladies and gentlemen, ebay craziness has now been defined...
BERIGAN
When I said Yikes, it was at a mere $304! I'll never own it.....
sidewinder
If my memory is right the Phillips/Ventura set went OOP with somewhat under 2000 copies sold, which may have influenced the price a bit. Over $600 is still totally crazy.
brownie
I did not buy this when it was still available because I had most of the Flip Phillips sides and I did not care that much for the Ventura sessions. I have changed my mind on Ventura by now. That's one of the Mosaics I should have gotten!
trane123
Just out of curiosity I checked what the guy who bought the Phillips/Ventura set has been doing recently on eBay. He seems to be on a Mosaic hunt. His last seven wins are all Mosaic sets and he's spent over $3000. Ah, yes, the Mosaic obsession...
garthsj
I believe that all of the Charlie Ventura material (as is the Flip Phillips) is available on a Definitive Records release ... was it "taken" from the Mosaic remastering I wonder?? :-) I did not buy this when it was still available because I had most of the Flip Phillips sides and I did not care that much for the Ventura sessions. Which was the case with those Venturas. And I'm sure they used Mosaic remasterings! I'm traveling the Chronological Classics on this material and hope they will soon have the few sides I am missing...

Brad
look at the Philips/Ventura set!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >yikes!< ← That's unbelievable. For that price I'd part with mine. Unlike Brownie, I still can't get comfortable with Ventura. Flip yes and there's a great session on there with Maggie.

tatifan
A local used emporium has the (cd vers.) of The Stan Kenton Complete Capitol Recordings of the Holman and Russo Charts. It's $100, so I'm not quite sure I'm going to pull the plug. What's Ebay been yielding on this? Should I go for it?
