gnhrtg Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 I've always thought the affinity Mulligan shared with Paul Desmond led to some inspired exchanges. "Two of a Mind" is a favorite of mine; plus, the recent reissue contains some great additional material. For the kind of simultaneous improvisation they do here I think the no-piano concept allows for an uncluttered space for them to do their thing! ← I'm far from being an expert on Mulligan but I am fairly familiar with "Two of a Mind" and fully agree with Paul. Pete B Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 Michael Cuscuna told me, some months back, that the complete Mulligan Sextet recordings will be coming out on Mosaic --- sometime. Hope I'm still around. ← This is long overdue. I have these on Japanese vinyls - but they were not issued in session order. It will be nice to see them get the Mosaic treatment. Would love to see the Limelight material reissued as well - excepting "It You Can't Beat Them, Join Them" - a dreadful album which I view as an anomaly in Mulligan's otherwise stellar career. Quote
