Rooster_Ties Posted September 14, 2006 Author Report Posted September 14, 2006 And I see from that back cover that the bonus material (all by itself) is well over 20 minutes long (close to 25 minutes actually, but then some of that is applause and such). Having had the vinyl of this date for the last 6 months or so, I can say that it is ever bit as good any anything to be found on the Tolliver Select. Quote
ep1str0phy Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 According to JPC, the new Enja version (24bit edition) will be released September 22. It's a midprice CD. http://www.jpc.de/jpcng/SESSIONID/fecae7c5...azz/rsk/hitlist (soundclips available) That's about as not unattractive an Enja cover as I have yet to see (IMO, anyway). Quote
JSngry Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 Dusty Groove has it for sale: Dusty Groove but the Enja site says that it is not available to buy: Enja Does that mean it's available or what?????? Anyway it looks like it will coming along soon. Great news! It should be coming to my mailbox in a few days. Ordered & Shipped from the Dutty Battids. Quote
Kyo Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 Got it today. It comes in a digipack. Haven't really listened to it yet but I feel I'll be enjoying this one a lot this week. The bonus tracks sound just as good as the original four - almost 74 minutes total playing time! Quote
DatDere Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 Got this in the mail today, great stuff and the sound quality is very good as well. I like this as much as the Tolliver Mosaic set. Thanks for the heads up on this release.. Quote
felser Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 Got this in the mail today, great stuff and the sound quality is very good as well. I like this as much as the Tolliver Mosaic set. Thanks for the heads up on this release.. Just played it for the first time as well. It's real good, of course, feels most like the 'Live at Loosdrecht' set, which was reissued on CD as 'Grand Max'. The two sets share the same drummer, Alvin Queen, and several of the same compositions. To me, better than 'Live in Tokyo', but not up to the glorious standards of the sets with Jimmy Hopps: 'The Ringer','Live at Slugs' (both volumes), and 'Music Inc. and Big Band'. Hopps was such a great drummer for this group, and the rhythm is stiffer with Queen on drums. Also, the compositions here, while good, don't hit the stratospheric levels of 'On The Nile', 'Drought', 'Orientale', and 'Ruthies Heart' from those earlier sessions. Be sure to get this one, but get the ones with Jimmy Hopps first. Quote
Kyo Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 I've been listening to this album all morning, I think it's really good. Recommended! Quote
