jazz1 Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 I am always looking for new music, I see that Phil Grenadier released a new cd on the Freshsound label Can anybody comment on it? Quote

jlhoots Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Great CD. Definitely "talent deserving wider recognition"!! Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Where's "Trumpet Guy" when you need him??? Quote
Clunky Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 His new CD is well worth it, still finding new things and enjoying all the more after several months of listening He has a great burry tone and oblique approach to the music which already strikes me as a pretty personal style. Quote
JazzKitten Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 Mr. Grenadier has managed to delight his fans again with another beautiful CD. I actually like this new one more than his first one, entitled "Sweet Transients". I like the new personnel he has assembled on this disc - Larry Grenadier - Bass, Wind Chimes Kurt Rosenwinkel - Guitar Bill Carrothers - Piano Jeff Ballard - Percussion, Drums, Wind Chimes Phil Grenadier - Trumpet, Producer, Wind Chimes Mr. G created different moods with his horn on the various pieces on the CD. He is a superb trumpeter and composer! I also enjoyed Mr. Carrother's piano playing a LOT!! I'm sure you'll like this assembly of great artists and tunes! You can find this disk on Amazon these days... Click on Image JazzKitten Quote

Joe G Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 You bet! Just because we can play like a classic organ trio doesn't mean we have to eat like one! Quote
JSngry Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Now I know-I'm not all that...and many could and possibly will criticize... Well, yeah, but so what? These are not the times for being "all that", these are the times for just being yourself humbly yet fully and not becoming a whoreclone. THAT is what these times desperately need, and you, sir, are doing it splendidly. Quote

dsgtrane Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 Let me jump on the wagon of Phil-Phans. Both albums are excellent. As I'm also a Seamus Blake fan, I've got to admit being ever so slightly partial to the first disc. Quote
Trumpet Guy Posted July 27, 2003 Report Posted July 27, 2003 Thank you David! Yeah Seamus Blake!! And Bill Stewart too! Quote
