clifford_thornton Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 (edited) Medeski, Martin and Wood - whatever they are, I don't care for it. What have you heard? Not trying to bust yer nuts, just curious. I would assume whatever they were doing in the mid- to late-90s. It has been some time, so I can't even recall exactly what was so wrong about them - maybe too cloying and/or schlocky. I can't hit the nails on the head like Jim Sangrey today with the whole vituperative specificity thing... Edited January 28, 2006 by clifford_thornton Quote
baryshnikov Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 Its got to be Cleo Laine, im a massive jazz vocalist fan, but one arpeggio from her and im gone, awful. Paul uk Quote

clifford_thornton Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 Meldhau. Ugh. Those photo spreads in the liners of one recent album make him and his bandmates look like a bunch of alterna-rock assholes. Quote

AllenLowe Posted February 6, 2006 Author Report Posted February 6, 2006 yes - Mehldau and Cleo Laine - 2 people it makes sense to hate - Mehldau in particular has become a precious bore - Quote
Aggie87 Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 I kinda think Mehldau started out that way, and has softened considerably. At least there are no more dissertations in his liner notes. Quote
