wolff Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 My first post!! Hello all! I used to lurk and post occasionally at the Blue Note BB. I just noticed the Mingus/Candid LP set was mastered by van Gelder(stamped in dead wax). My Hodges 51-55(LP) booklet says mastered by van Gelder, but in the dead wax is stamped another name(MCA Rick??). The LPs's are not actually mastered by van Gelder. Is this old news? What other LP sets were mastered by van Gelder, if any?? Quote
sidewinder Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Hi wolff - thanks for pointing this out, I hadn't previously noticed the Van Gelder imprint on the Mingus Candid. I've had a look at my earlier Mosaic LP sets and in most cases it's either 'Mastered By EMI' or 'Mastered By Capitol'. Not sure if any of the others have the Van Gelder imprint. Quote
brownie Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 The Mosaic 117 box The Complete Verve Recordings of Buddy de Franco/Sonny Clark was also mastered by RVG. The RVG stamp is in the dead wax of the LPs. Quote
