Bluerein Posted March 15, 2006 Author Report Posted March 15, 2006 Did anyone besides Lon get these already? I'm curious about the sound, etc. The special preorder price is still on so it was not so special after all...... Quote
ghost of miles Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 Did anyone besides Lon get these already? Picking mine up at the local record shop tomorrow night and will try to post the next day. So the Costa CD won't have any Costa on it? Quote
Fer Urbina Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 So the Costa CD won't have any Costa on it? If it's the Memorial Concert, Costa is only on the cover. Hopefully Mighty Quinn will reissue something actually featuring Costa in the future. F Quote

Fer Urbina Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 Yeah, but how many records even have Costa on the cover? Haven't counted the covers, but top of my head, he's on the Costa-Mehegan, the Cuozzo (both Savoy), the Newport '57 (Verve), the Quintet for Mode, the Memorial... and that's probably just about it. But last time I counted LPs in which he *plays*, they are about 140-150 (that includes a few instrumental albums with large orchestras.) F Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 The 'Guys & Dolls....' Coral cd as well. Quote
Fer Urbina Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 The 'Guys & Dolls....' Coral cd as well. Oops, thanks! Talking about Guys and Dolls CD, one place where Costa does NOT appear is in his own entry at allmusic.com There are three pictures taken from the booklet but none of them are Costa. Emailed them ages ago, nothing happened. F Quote
