brownie Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 Willie Coleman also plays on the Juan Amalbert Latin Jazz Quintet Prestige session 'Hot Sauce' which has been reissued on vinyl recently. Have not heard these albums. Juan Amalbert posted on this forum a while ago. No idea if he is still around these parts. He would know all about Coleman. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 These two LPs are available on one CD from Fantasy - oops Concord Juan Amalbert's Latin Jazz Quintet - Hot sauce" Prestige PRCD24128 VERY NICE STUFF. MG Quote
mikeweil Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 Paul - was the frist thread lost that you started with this question? Anyway - the two LJQ sessions on the Hot Sauce CD are all I could find with Willie Coleman .... Perhaps Amalbert knows what became of him - his website is http://www.eastwestrecords.com/. Quote
baryshnikov Posted January 22, 2006 Author Report Posted January 22, 2006 Thanks Mike, just been playing Tabu, Don Cunningham, a monster in the clubs, strange how some really off beat tunes catch on. Is he still alive respects Paul? Quote
mikeweil Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 (edited) No idea - never heard of him before. Must have been an extremely rare LP (500 copies initially pressed) before the reissue. Edited January 22, 2006 by mikeweil Quote

baryshnikov Posted January 28, 2006 Author Report Posted January 28, 2006 Album was onlt given out at hugh heffner clubs, so most music is background jazz. But Tabu just kicks, they just recorded for real fans, available on eBay for £10 inc postage. paul Quote
