JSngry Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 It's your money. You would know better than I! Quote
medjuck Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 Wow. I was going to give some boring advice but you sound way too overloaded. Reminds me of that sequece in Goodfellas where the coked out mafia guy is running around setting up a deal and trying to avoid the cops in helicopters but meanwhile he has to keep returning home to stir the meatballs or whatever he's cooking. Sounds like you have way to many responsiblities. You should prioritize them and drop those on the bottom of the list. I'd put your new job and the school work on the top. Quote

kinuta Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 How do you keep it together ? I'm not sure I understand the question. Maybe by having absolutely no expectations of life other than problems and being reconciled to living in a constant state of low grade depression interspersed with the occasion burst of happiness. J Larsen Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 A couple execs at my company swear by this book. I haven't had time to read it. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/014200028...5Fencoding=UTF8 Quote
Guest Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 A friend of mine gave me some good advice that I still try to use when I think about all the stuff on my "to do" list. She suggested that instead of writing down all the things you need to accomplish that day, at the end of the day write down all the things you got done. It is quite freeing. Instead of feeling burdened by having to call 40 people, imagine reading that you ran three errands, helped your wife with the laundry, called four people, got an oil change...whatever. It will probably help you realize that you get more done than you think you do. However, keeping a computer calendar is important if you have appointments on a regular basis. Quote

So far, about 1/3 the way through, it is making a lot of sense, and giving some great approaches to keep from being overwhelmed by all the day to day stuff that collects on our plates. Quote

DOB: 3/2/70 (you just described me to a tee) Hey John, I think he's onto something here! Homer Simpson is clearly a Pisces...from the classic Scientology take-off episode, The Joy of Sect....After trying in vain to brainwash Homer with a film(Everyone else seeing the film was).... Homer: Wait, I'm confused about the movie... so the cops knew internal affairs were setting them up? Man: What are you talking about? There's nothing like that in there! Homer: Well, you see, when I get bored, I make up my own movie. I have a very short attention span. Lady: But our point is very simple, you see when... Homer running out the door: Oh look! A bird! Hihihihihee. Quote

chris olivarez Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 Since I work in a buisness of deadlines. I put things in the absolute order they have to be done. I multi task when I have to and take them one at a time when I can. Just try not to bite off more than you can chew and it is okay to say no. Quote
