Uncle Skid Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 I just signed up again, after not being a member for almost two years. I couldn't believe all the new additions since then! Today's downloads: Mal Waldron - The Quest (w/Eric Dolphy and Booker Ervin) Cecil Taylor - Looking Ahead Steve Lacy - Reflections Steve Lacy - Evidence Joe Henderson - Tetragon A fellow board member was kind enough to play Evidence and The Quest for me the other day -- outstanding! Double bonus: both available for download on EMusic! Quote

Uncle Skid Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 Haven't they had all of those albums from the beginning? Yes -- I should have made that clear -- I was (happily) surprised by the number of new albums that have showed up there during the last few years; however, the downloads I mentioned are things that just weren't on my radar two years ago. The combination of all the new music available and a whole bunch of new things on my "want-list" finally pushed me in to joining again. It's nice that all of my old downloads still show up on my account -- I can download them again (without charge) if I wanted to. Quote

randyhersom Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 Thomas Chapin - The Knitting Factory albums are up, now on a new label. Sky Piece is wonderful. Both Rahsaan Roland Kirk's on Hyena. I'll check out Lafayette Gilchrist after my downloads refresh. Quote
BFrank Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 Land / Mitchell - Mapenzi i need more blue mitchell from EM Yes you do! Your next DLs should be "A Sure Thing", "Big 6" and "Blue's Mood" Quote

The Magnificent Goldberg Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Land / Mitchell - Mapenzi i need more blue mitchell from EM Yes you do! Your next DLs should be "A Sure Thing", "Big 6" and "Blue's Mood" Yeah, "Blue Moods" is one of his most beautiful albums. "I'll close my eyes" just makes me go warm all over every time I listen to it. I also like "Smooth as the wind" a lot, of the Riversides. Tadd Dameron's and Benny Golsons arrangements fit Blue's beautiful sound perfectly. MG Quote
relyles Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Thomas Chapin - The Knitting Factory albums are up, now on a new label. Sky Piece is wonderful. I just found last week a copy of the OOP box set, Alive for only $50. Chapin was very inspirational. All of his Knitting Factory work is worth hearing. I had wanted the box set for a while, but because it was OOP i never saw it anywhere for less than $100. Quote
