That's why Jimmy Hamilton after taking his clarinet solo also has to take the tenor solo... That is wild! That cat is MF OUT COLD! He doesn't even flinch during the sudden loud ensemble hits. It's really bizarre at the beginning of the drum solo where you can see Gonslaves with the tenor in his mouth and totally out of it - as still as a corpse. Man, it's no wonder Ellington's was the only band Paul could play in. No one else would put up with a minute of this. BTW, who is the trumpet (cornet) soloist? I should know who it is, but can't quite place him. Herbie Jones? Quote
