AllenLowe Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 (edited) no, but there is that scene in the plantation office, and the slaveowner has Rawls's record playing in the background while he tries to tell the slaves that he has only their own good in mind - I think the song playing is "Love is a Hurtin' Thing" - Edited January 9, 2006 by AllenLowe Quote

mikeweil Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 I've always wanted to find a copy of a 1963 album on the Capitol label called "Tobacco Road" with screamin' big band charts by Onzy Matthews. This was reissued on CD with c/w the other Rawls LP Matthews arranged, Black and Blue. Quote
mikeweil Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 (edited) I wonder how this one is, his second LP for Capitol. When I saw that Mighty Quinn reissued this one, I ordered a copy from them. Edited October 26, 2009 by mikeweil Quote
DukeCity Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Thanks, Mike! Just ordered a copy. Looking forward to hearing those Onzy Matthews arrangements again! Quote
