BruceH Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 shorter and morgan were a great combo. Indeed. Perhaps THE great combo. Quote

The Gigilo beats Sidewinder hands down, and every other Lee Morgan I've heard. Quote
Kalo Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 shorter and morgan were a great combo. Indeed. Perhaps THE great combo. Better than Oliver and Armstrong? Bird and Diz? Monk and Trane? Holmes and Watson? Laurel and Hardy? Martin and Lewis? (Well, yeah, better than them.) One of the great combos in any case. Quote

Free For All Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 (edited) The Gigolo finally comes out, and another long, long wait comes to an end. Edited January 3, 2006 by Free For All Quote
John Tapscott Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 Thanks for the info. Just ordered the Hill and the Morgan. Quote
Brad Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 I guess we can't look forward to any more threads demanding that the Gigolo be reissued. Quote
Ron S Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 I guess we can't look forward to any more threads demanding that the Gigolo be reissued. No, but just wait until the complaints start rolling in about how RVG screwed up the sound. Quote

robert h. Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 I guess we can't look forward to any more threads demanding that the Gigolo be reissued. I'll believe it when I have a copy in my grubby little paws. Then I'll focus my attention on the effort to get BACK TO THE CHICKEN SHACK RVG'd! It only about 3 years of whining and moaning to get the GIGOLO so I bet we can get THE SHACK by 2009 Forgive me for asking, but it's been out on Japanese RVG for over 3 years in fantastic sound, why on earth would anyone moan for 3 years just to avoid paying a few bucks more for the import, especially such a great record? I've been digging this RVG for years now. It sure has been worth the paltry few bucks more for those years of enjoying it! Quote

I also had the lp, now long gone. Quote

Soulstation1 Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 IMO the JRVG of The Gigolo didn't sound very good.... listened via headphones Quote

BruceH Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Bing and Hope? Cramden and Norton? The Burrs? (I'm not making sense anymore?) Quote
BruceH Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 ....Watson and Crick? Ok, forget that. To get back to the Feb. RVG's, looks like I'll probably get five of 'em. Quote
Parkertown Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 IMO the JRVG of The Gigolo didn't sound very good.... listened via headphones I concur. Kinda like the "Adam's Apple" JRVG...where's the bass? I've not heard the domestic RVG'd Apple... Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 my shiny silver "Gigilo" sounds fine to me. is there something I'm missing with this title? (that first rock and roll tune might be over the top even more via the vangelder) always wondered why some of them RVGs of the 20 bitters that sounded pretty good when released a few years prior - "Sixth Sense" etc..? needed to be given the new compressover. gnhrtg Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 (edited) From this batch, I'll be getting The Gigolo soon and Gettin' Around a little later. Edited January 8, 2006 by gnhrtg Quote
