Hardbopjazz Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 (edited) For me, it was James Carter. I really dig his playing. I went and saw him live and he was amazed, great soul jazz and straight ahead playing from him. Edited January 2, 2006 by Hardbopjazz Quote

Nate Dorward Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 I discovered Tord Gustavsen this year--I just didn't like him very much! Randy Sandke, the Respect Sextet, Sal Mosca, David Borgo, Joey Sellers, Jim McAuley spring to mind. Some of whom I'd heard before but only got a proper perspective on this year. Quote

I guess I never spent the time to "get" what he was doing. Pretty amazing. Spoon - Great indie band from Austin. Good songwriting and original sound. Quote
