kh1958
In my case (8/28/58), Lennie Tristano at the Half Note, Thelonious Monk at the Five Spot Horace Silver at the Village Vanguard Sonny Rollins Trio at Birdland Unfortunately, as a newborn baby 1400 miles away or so, I was unable to make any of these performances, but how in any event could one decide which to attend? jazzbo
I don't know about the clubs, but Hank Jones, Wendell Marshall and Kenny Clarke recorded a trio lp for Savoy the afternoon I was born!
mikeweil
I can't complain - Art Blakey, Horace Silver, Clifford Brown, Lou Donaldson and Curly Russell recorded at the Birdland for Blue Note the day I was born ..... kh1958
At Slugs, the McCoy Tyner Quintet played a one-night engagement on March 18, 1969. The night before, the Sun Ra Arkestra (every Monday night). Otherwise, it says Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers play practically every night (from 9 too 4). Village Vanguard, closed on Tuesday and Wednesday night (this is kind of shocking), but on the 20th, the Sonny Rollins Quartet. The prior week, the Tony Williams Quartet. On Sundays, Duke Pearson leads a 16 piece orchestra. At the Half Note, Roy Eldridge and Richie Kamucha. How about the week of March 18th, 1969??
