I heard some Kenny G in a restaurant, and it was not unlike some of the things Hank Crawford does. Najee, Kenny G....it's a different thing for sure, I don't dig it. But to harp on how bad it is seems like an easy target. Kenny might could actually play some badass shit we'd all be surprised at...just a thought.

A friend of mine went to see Kenny G last Sunday night at the Saroyan Theater in Fresno. She said that he tore the place up. Apparently he played some shit that would have made Bird cry like a itty bitty baby. Maybe it's not fair to compare bird to kenny G. Bird was a junkie and had to deal with racial discrimination and bla bla bla. Simply put - Kenny kicks ass!!! All the others can do is listen and weep.

It's been years since he played Baltimore. Come back Kenny. Kenny come back!!!

You don't "compare" Bird to anybody, you compare everyone else to Bird. And if KG is so damn good, then let him put out a straight ahead CD, he certainly has enough money and pull to do that. Why hide those "talents" in a theater in Fresno???

KG's under contract - no one has the pull. Wyclef Jean made the album he wanted to make last year and BMG told him to fuck off with it. Fortunately for him, he owned the master ("if you don't own the master, the Master owns you") so he released it and it sold a little. I doubt if KG owns his own masters and I doubt that he has the strength of conviction that 'Clef has.

I don't know whether Kenny G ever chose to play what he's playing now. I'm damn sure that, now, he couldn't choose to play anything else on record; his record company's making too much money to let him.

I've never heard him play, so I don't know what he's like.
