BERIGAN
We had to put one to sleep 2 years ago....Ginger was her name(Her Brother's name is Fred) She seemed to be in perfect health! Found one of our cats acting very strangely, looking into my room, thought he saw a bug , then wondered if it was a mouse...he never seemed spooked like this...found her under my bed, very sick....Took her to an all night vet, but she was dead by the time would took her inside. Appearently, she was very dehydrated, but her fur wasn't like other cats we have had suffer from dehydration. Like I said, the she wasn't acting up at all! Her brother has been the sick one with many urinary track infections, kidney problems, he was just at the vet a month ago dehydrated, figured Ginger would outlive him by a few years, you just never know. We were having a rough year financially in 91, and Mom decided to get a kitten, since we had two adult strays. Dad didn't want any part it, he didn't want another cat filling up the litter box! Well, she won. They checked out a litter(of cats!) and they were going to pick up friendliest cat, Freddie, a tabby. Well, the dopes thought she wanted the Grey cat, and sent Freddie to a pet store. So, we paid 45 bucks to get a cat that would have been free. Then, she started to think about the ornery gray cat. Figured that the idiots would drown her if we didn't scoop her up. So we got two kittens that Christmas. Ginger was to put it nicely, a bitch! She picked on our oldest cat,(Boomer) I mean really picked on him, ran into him, jumped on him, bit him in the neck, really burned me up. I didn't like her. Her brother was the nice one, the one who crawled into your lap, wanted to be friends. She clearly liked my Mom best. Mom defended her when I was ready to toss her into the cold cruel world(are cats are insiders) Only cat I have ever seen that could really stare daggers at you, you could tell when she was pissed at you, or the other cats. She hated all other cats, except her brother, she would tolerate him, most of the times. Time mellowed Ginger...to a point. She never did get very big...always looked a bit like a kitten. She stopped trying to kill Boomer. We brought in 2 other cats after we got the kittens. When Mom was getting sick, she spend more and more time around her, Mom would put a pillow on her lap(Ginger still had her claws, and like her Brother, would stick them into you when they purred) as she laid in bed, and Ginger would spend hours on there. When Mom died, she grew closer to Dad and me. Jumped into our laps more often, and had recently taken to getting up in our laps to then jump onto the little drawer we have out for our mousepad, kept knocking the cordless mouse off, but that didn't bother her. Still doesn't seem real, she went so fast......
BERIGAN
After tackling Boomer several times in a day, she would often lay right into him, like in this photo(He was about 19 and pretty frail at the time)

DukeCity
Sorry to hear of your loss. We had to put Agnes down a few months ago at age 18. Our other cat Kudra seemed on death's doorstep a few weeks ago, down to 5 1/2 lbs from being 13lbs. Then we got her on thyroid medication and she is having another go at life.
