Free For All
For some odd reason, I am still waking up every morning. Well, that's always a good thing, isn't it? I mean as opposed to the alternative......
Joe G
I thought this thread was started just today (we got socked with a big snowstorm yesterday), until I read Jim's post and said "What?"
Joe G
And I guess we lost ben*diks somewhere along the line?
Christiern
Same views, different morning... and 3 hours later... ad here is my guardian pelican. He's looking east, I'm looking south, on Central Park West...
Jim Alfredson
And I guess we lost ben*diks somewhere along the line? Probably when I accidentally deleted the member table of the database and tried to go to our "monthly" backups that never actually existed (that sucked). The Magnificent Goldberg
So, I guess those are the Queensboro and Williamsburg bridges in the second photo? MG
Noj
Anyone else jealous of Chris' view? Great pictures, Chris.
Son-of-a-Weizen
Yes, it is a nice air conditioner.....how many BTUs you think it is?
Christiern
MG, that is the Triboro Bridge and, to its left, a railroad bridge that I cannot name. Weizy, I don't recall the BTU, but it keeps me cool and dry on nasty NYC summer days. It also is quite good at running up my ConEd bill! 7/4
He probably too far North to see the Williamsburg, particularly at that angle. Isn't that the Empire State building next to the AC in that 3rd shot?
Christiern
He probably too far North to see the Williamsburg, particularly at that angle. Isn't that the Empire State building next to the AC in that 3rd shot? On a clear day, I can see the Whitestone Bridge, but not the Williamsburg. Yes, thats the Empire State, and--if you look closely--you can also see the Chrysler Building, the Citicorp building, and the Plaza Hotel. Here's a closer look at those buildings, taken 3 months ago (wasn't the park beautiful?):
Brownian Motion
So, I guess those are the Queensboro and Williamsburg bridges in the second photo? MG The bridge on the right is the Triborough Bridge, and on the left, I believe, is the Hell's Gate Bridge, a railroad bridge.
Son-of-a-Weizen
What I woke up to this morning... Pretty good that a guy his age could scale that wall and maintain his balance on the ledge. What the heck did you do when you saw him out there brandishing that piece, Chris????? I wonder how he got your address????
Christiern
He didn't look like Cheney, so I felt safe. Anyway, he was aiming at the pelicans.

Randy Twizzle
I don't wake up to this scene everyday but I do pass this location almost every day. It's one of the reasons I finally bought a camera.
Christiern
I love pictures like that, and it is a good thing that you don't wake up to this scene! BMm I'm trying to find info on the architect. All I can tell you now is that the building dates back to 1929 and that the architect has pelicans on other buildings in town.
