Chuck Nessa Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 seriously it's just been too long, Believe me, I know. Quote
l p Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 well, maybe we should not respond to L "I have nothing intelligent to say so I post it anyway" P - you're hurting my feelings. Quote
l p Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 "Excited because its on Uptown"??? What the fuck is that? Who the fuck has said that?? People are excited because, as described by Jim in the first post of this thread, this is a never-before heard performance that is, if those who have heard it are to be believed, amazing. Can you say the same thing about the Philology releases? Quote
Dan Gould Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 you're probably the type who says that lester's late period wasn't nearly as good as his early playing. Yeah, that would explain why one of my favorite box sets is the Lester Young Verve set. Quote

AllenLowe Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 I hate to be negative, as I love the Uptown stuff - but, Chuck, is Gitler doing the notes to the new Bird? I'm sorry, I respect his past work, but he has run out of ideas and has very little insight left - my unsolicited suggestion is that they find someone else - Quote
Bill B Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 Is this material to be released in 2005 ? Quote

Victor Christensen Posted April 22, 2005 Report Posted April 22, 2005 I have heard all of the greats live, except Bird. He played at a concert here in Copenhagen in 1950, but I was not allowed to go because I was only 13 at that time. What a shame, he is my alltime favorite. He is genius in jazz besides Louis A. and "The Duke". Some of the greats were on the downslide when I heard them, like Lester, Billie H. and Hawkins. Vic Quote
kh1958 Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 Where do I send my money for the earliest available copy? Quote

Jazzmoose Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Yeah, and you can pick up some cool Nessa discs along with it! Quote
