Chuck Nessa Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Yours? Easily. Hold on to the antlers. B-) Quote
Stefan Wood Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 I will be getting this! From Uptown, not those #$%%^U$!% guys from overseas. Quote
Guest Chaney Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Thanks guys. Please don't tell anyone I killed Rudolph and he's hanging from a tree in my front yard. Some nice steaks this winter. (...) Meat is murder, Chuck. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Chuck, Why couldn't you have killed Blitzen as well? That fucker tore up my roof last year in a fit of rage once he found out that Rudolph had been banging his fiance. Oh wait, I think that was Moose. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Unless you have photographs, lay off bud! Quote

Jim Alfredson Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Unless you have photographs, lay off bud! "You say your brother's taken pictures. Well he can take as many as he please, 'Cos if he didn't come up and touch me Then it still wasn't me!" Quote
John L Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 (edited) How much longer are you going to keep us in this kind of bird deprevation, Chuck????? Edited November 4, 2004 by John L Quote
Brad Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 Lay off the bud, or lay off the Bud? For the holidays could you change your signon to "JazzBlitzen," JM? Hey, no stealing my avatar What about 3 Kings Day, January 6. That's a nice day. Quote
John L Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 Just sitting here and wondering again what it really sounded like at Town Hall in 1945... Quote
kh1958 Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 How many minutes of new music with Bird and Diz will be on the CD? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 40:46 including introductions. Quote
kh1958 Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 40:46 including introductions. Wow! That sounds like one of the greatest posthumous Bird finds ever. Quote
AllenLowe Posted December 27, 2004 Report Posted December 27, 2004 thanks! Now - who is that famous collector who won't give up the 6 minutes? And did jack Towers do the original transfers of these acetates? I know it's all none of my business, but I do restoration work myself and was just curious - (and did I mention that I own some un-released Mrs. Miller? I'm waiting until it's really worth a lot)- Quote
Peter Johnson Posted December 27, 2004 Report Posted December 27, 2004 How did I go 1.5 years _completely_ missing this thread? Thanks for your work on this, Chuck--I can't WAIT to get a copy of it! Quote
cooltrane Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 This thread as been around for 1.5 years Wow I love the Bird I can't wait until this cd comes out! Quote
Vincent, Paris Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 I believe it will hit the streets on March 12th, 50 years after Bird passed away. Quote
bertrand Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Same day Roy Haynes is doing a Bird tribute at the Kennedy Center. Bertrand. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 Mention of Roy reminds me that when Bob Sunenblick (Uptown owner) called Mr Haynes about the Boston 1952 session with Joe Gordon, Mingus & Twardzik the first thing out of his mouth was "do I take a solo?". When told there were no drum solos he said "yeah, I don't ever remember Bird letting me solo". Quote
AllenLowe Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 (edited) come on Chuck, who's the collector with the 6 minutes - so we can sneak over to his house in the middle of the night and beat the crap out of him and grab the 6 minutes - or at least have pizzas delivered until he relents - Edited January 10, 2005 by AllenLowe Quote
kh1958 Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 come on Chuck, who's the collector with the 6 minutes - so we can sneak over to his house in the middle of the night and beat the crap out of him and grab the 6 minutes - or at least have pizzas delivered until he relents - Does this mean that there actually is a collector who has the only version of one of the songs from this concert and won't turn it over for the CD issue? If so, I suggest we surreptiously swap his entire 78 collection for "No Noise" CD reissues, and if this doesn't work, replace each of his Ellington Lps in the sleeve with a rap record, in addition to your excellent suggestions. Rooster_Ties Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 FWI, I'm pretty sure the 6 minutes is from a different concert. Look farther up in this thread for details, if I remember right. Quote
