pryan Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 This is great news, indeed. If the rapport between Max and Bird is ANYTHING like it is on the club date from the WASHINGTON CONCERTS disc put out by Blue Note a couple of years back, I'm giddy with anticipation. And it sounds, according to Jim's description, even better. Quote
RDK Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 How can I check your mental prostate? Where do I stick my finger? Is that anything like a "wet willy?" Quote
John L Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 This is too fantastic to believe. I have always stared at those pictures from the Town Hall concerts and though if only, if only, if only I could stare hard enough to actually hear something. I CAN'T WAIT! Rooster: The last newly-discovered Bird might be the 1952 Boston concert. But this is of another, much rarer vintage. This is previously unheard monumental jazz history. An if the music is as good as Jim S. says it is (and I believe that it is), all I can say is FUCKING HELL! Quote
DrJ Posted July 26, 2003 Report Posted July 26, 2003 Well, I miss a few days on the board and come back to something like THIS! Great news, thanks Chuck. A new baby, new vintage Parker and Gillespie - does it get any better? Can't wait for this pending Uptown release! Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 Yeah, what's the time-table on this. I was talkin' this up at a club just last night, and hated not being able to tell people even any hint of when this might hit the streets. 6 months?? One year?? Hopefully not any longer than that. couw Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Chuck has mentioned March in another inquiring thread on this issue. Is that still on Chuck? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 More delays - sorry. I'm awaiting a new set of transfers. I decline to set another timeframe. Quote
brownie Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 The music was recorded sixty years ago. Or almost. We can wait some more... Quote
Eric Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 No doubt - when this does arrive, it should be a keeper. I can wait ... Eric Quote
Clunky Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 is it going to be a very happy christmas?? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Not in time for Christmas. Not my fault. My work is done. Quote
alankin Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 How about by Martin Luther King Jr Day? Ground Hog Day? Valentine's Day? Give us a holiday to shoot for! Quote
Guest Chaney Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Thanks for spoiling Christmas, Chuck. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Thanks guys. Please don't tell anyone I killed Rudolph and he's hanging from a tree in my front yard. Some nice steaks this winter. Some good news for those remembering the early messages. The acetate changes with breaks in various performances match up perfectly (with a few pitch corrections) so no solos are interrupted. This stuff does take time to do correctly so the thieves have good source material. Y'all remember there is only one set of discs and we got 'em. The Gillespie estate cleared it and all that (shortly) follow are stealing our work. I think you will be amazed. Quote
BruceH Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 So this is going to be on Uptown? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 (edited) Yup. If I'm not mistaken, this is in the topic header. Edited November 2, 2004 by Chuck Nessa Quote
