ejp626 Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 Definitely worth checking out the details link, where they also try to calculate the actual speed of car chases in Blues Brothers and the French Connection. The verdict -- fast but not as fast as claimed by the directors. I remember an interview with the director of Blues Brothers where he had to reshoot some car chases with stunt men on the sidewalk or it just didn't look like the car was moving very fast. Quote
brownie Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 Stupid way of driving the Paris streets! Lelouch should have sped down and enjoyed the scenery. Quote
Claude Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 It's impressive, but completely insane. He drove through almost a dozen red lights. What I like most in the movie is the sound of the Ferrari 275 GTB Quote

Rooster_Ties Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 (edited) Crap, can't get the movie to play. Guess it's Quicktime. Not sure I can upgrade to the latest and greatest QT, as I'm sorry to say I'm still running Windows ME ( ). Is there anywhere I can upgrade to the best version of Quicktime that still supported Win ME?? Or maybe I can run it from work. How big is the file?? (Gotta get XP one of these days.) The file is 33MB. The latest Quicktime (7)can be found here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html For Windows 98/Me, you need an older version (6.52 should work) : http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=quicktime BTW, if you want to keep the movie on your hard drive, copy the .mov file from your browser cache to another folder (before you close the browser window or Quicktime). brownie Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 Lelouch is a hack. Bertrand. ...and a dangerous driver Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 (edited) Actually, just found a QT alternative codec (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickT...Alternative.htm), which seems to work great. They had a version for Windows 98/ME/2000/XP. Watching the footage now. Damn!!! ===== Love the ending. Awe... Edited December 1, 2005 by Rooster_Ties Quote
tonym Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 You can't even imagine trying that now, even in a provincial town, nevermind a city!!! very impressive, if somewhat insane, driving. At times it looks like he's making his route up as he goes along. What I like most in the movie is the sound of the Ferrari 275 GTB The V12 yowllllll.... amazing given that this 'supercar' only has 280 bhp; mediocre for today's boxes. Quote
Claude Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 Love the ending. Awe... In Paris couples date at 5 in the morning, because of the heavy traffic in the evening Quote
brownie Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 I remember the little fracas the public showing of the film originated when it was first viewed. If Lelouch was arrested, doubt he was put in jail! Lelouch admitted some time ago that he was the car driver. It seems the car used for the wild ride was a Mercedes 300 6,9! The car sound that went onto the soundtrack was actually from a Ferrari 330 prototype! Quote
tonym Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 The car sound that went onto the soundtrack was actually from a Ferrari 330 prototype! Well at least there's some consistency, that's the same motor as the 275. Quote
Alexander Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 (edited) A friend of mine who's a real car nut actually owns this film on DVD! BTW, the best stunt driving EVER is in Steve McQueen's "Bullitt." Edited December 1, 2005 by Alexander Quote
BERIGAN Posted December 2, 2005 Report Posted December 2, 2005 ... BTW, the best stunt driving EVER is in Steve McQueen's "Bullitt." Something we can agree on! Next time you watch it, notice how many times a white firebird shows up during the chase scene. I think a bug keeps re-appearing as well... Quote
Claude Posted December 2, 2005 Report Posted December 2, 2005 (edited) There was a PC and Playstation game called "Driver" which is inspired by the Bullit scene. I'm not a gamer, but this was addictive. http://www.atari.com/us/games/driver/pc Edited December 2, 2005 by Claude Quote

Quincy Posted December 2, 2005 Report Posted December 2, 2005 I think a bug keeps re-appearing as well... Yup. I saw it again just a couple of weeks ago. That bug makes great speed. Jacqueline Bisset sure was lovely. Quote
