king ubu Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 Whoah, whole lotta countries in Africa, aren't there? Anyway, at least 70%... 94% in Near East/Middle East, and something similar in Europe (mistplaced Vatican slighty and released Netherlands without wanting to... that's the drawback of that touchpad-mouse). I will keep quiet about USA and have forgotten about Asia and Latin America, but both were not better than 70% or so... Quote
catesta Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 That was fun and challenging. U.S. = 86% correct, 22 mi avg in 222 seconds. I'll try the others later. Quote
RDK Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 Sloppiness did me in. I actually "missed" Texas because i just dropped it to the area but didn't line up the borders just right. And heck, the cursor was bigger than Delaware! Quote
Quincy Posted December 2, 2005 Report Posted December 2, 2005 That was fun! US 96% 5 miles (Darn that Iowa. I even grew up next to it!) Europe 87% 68 miles error (Oh those wee places.) South America 85% 74 miles error (I misplaced Bolivia too far north. ) Asia 94% 36 miles error (I was going to put Georgia in the right place but thought the map was already colored. Oh well.) Africa 79% avg error 331 miles (I had a course on African geography 20 years ago. The names keep changing.) Middle east 94% 18 miles (Off a bit on Jordan) Quote
Alexander Hawkins Posted December 2, 2005 Report Posted December 2, 2005 Fun! I like the politics of it (not quite as good as Eurovision though)...For example, I think Mexico fell through a crack between North and Central America... Quote
catesta Posted December 2, 2005 Report Posted December 2, 2005 South America = 80% 221 miles avg. error in 187 secs. Quote
gslade Posted December 2, 2005 Report Posted December 2, 2005 states 94% 345 seconds 5mile ave error Quote
Joe G Posted December 2, 2005 Report Posted December 2, 2005 States: 92%, 15 mile error, 368 seconds. The rest will be much more difficult for me. Quote
Alexander Posted December 2, 2005 Report Posted December 2, 2005 The one I did worst on was Asia. All those tiny little islands and former Soviet Republics. Don't remember what I got, but it was somewhere near 50%. The one I did best on was the Middle East - 94% (I got the Golan Heights wrong). I did okay on the U.S. and South America (both near 90%). Africa was rough (71%). Europe I did okay on when it came to Eastern Europe and great when it came to Western Europe and Scandinavia. The thing that tripped me up with Europe was all those tiny little principalities and duchies (?) like Luxembourg and Monaco. I could approximate their locations, but I always ended up a few miles off course (obviously it gets easier as the map gets filled in... Quote
Big Deal Posted December 2, 2005 Report Posted December 2, 2005 States 92% 11 Miles Darn! I was sure that VA. said KY! Middle East 94% 15 Miles Africa 75% 295 Miles Aisa 71% 111 Miles South America 90 % 146 Miles Doggone Belize anyway! Europe 77% 110 Miles This was fun and it looks like I should do it once a month. I had only 95% in Europe, because of Andorra, San Marino, Vatican and Liechtenstein, but also Poland (placed it too much to the south) Edited December 2, 2005 by Claude Quote
tonym Posted December 2, 2005 Author Report Posted December 2, 2005 That was fun! US 96% 5 miles (Darn that Iowa. I even grew up next to it!) yeah, does anyone actually live in Iowa? What's there of note? At least now though, I know what the Oklahoma Pan Handle looks like. Quote
