Jim Dye Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 I just found out today that a close friend that i've known for nearly 30 years died of an asthma attack on Monday. I suspect an accidental OD since the guy was a walking pharmacy and had fallen on some pretty hard times. I'm flying home to Michigan on Thursday. I've never lost someone close to me who was my age. I think I'm having a much harder time with this than when I lost my Dad to Lung Cancer back in 1990. Maybe it's because I have my own family now. Sometimes life can just kick you right in the jimmy. Damn. Quote
bertrand Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 Jim, I'm very sorry to hear of your friend's passing. Please know that all your friends here at organissimo are thinking about you. Sincerely, Bertrand. Quote

J.A.W. Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 I know the feeling, I lost my best friend in 1998. He was only 50. My condolences, Jim. Quote
mikeweil Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 It makes so clear how fragile our lives are when someone our age dies - my thoughts are with you, Jim. Quote
chris olivarez Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 I've lost some friends. Nothing can really prepare you for it. My condolences. Quote
Big Deal Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 Hang in there man. One of my best friends died in 1984 and I still find myself missing him. But I can usually tell some humorous story from when he and I were young and that usually helps to bring a smile to my face and lets me know that he is still there with me. Quote
JohnJ Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 My sincere condolences Jim. I do know how you feel, one of my best friends was murdered on Christmas Day 1991 in Manila, at a Christmas party I was supposed to attend but did not as I was too hung over. That was a great shock. Quote
PHILLYQ Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 My condolences Jim. I lost a friend 8 years ago who was 35, and it's impossible to make any sense out of it. I try to remember the laughs and the funny stories about him. Quote
maren Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 Jim, I'm so sorry. Take good care of yourself. (The first time I lost a friend my age -- she got an infection most people recover from, but she just didn't -- it was physically painful for me and I think our whole group of friends -- felt like we were beaten up.)
