Rooster_Ties Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 (edited) I think DWI is Driving While Intoxicated. DUI is Driving Under the Influence. Not sure what the exact difference is. Are they just different terms for the same thing?? Or is one worse than the other?? For the record, for the last 8 years, I've probably had no more than four drinks in any given month (usually on four separate days), and there are probably three or four months out of the year when I don't even have one drink the entire month. Back when I was hanging out in jazz bars a lot more (and one particular bar all the time), I usually drank about three or four drinks over the course of a 3 hour period, about 3 or 4 nights a week. When I was in college, I didn't drink all that much (maybe one weekend-night per month), but when I started bartending my senior year, I'd have a few drinks after every shift I worked. Sometimes we'd play pool and drink free beer until the sun came up (after the place closed), while the owner did the books for the night. And NO, I never drove home drunk back then. (Didn't have a car, and I walked everywhere.) ===== ALSO, I just found an on-line Blood Alcohol Content calculator (HERE), and according to it - I wasn't anywhere near "over the limit" most of times I was refering to up above (in my first post in this thread). According to it, at my weight back then (200 lbs), I could drink up to four average mixed drinks in any three hour period (or even just a two hour period), and my BAC level would be well below the 0.08 limit. BTW, I though it was GREAT when they changed the laws to reduce the BAC levels from 0.1 to .08 -- so more people took these laws seriously. Edited November 28, 2005 by Rooster_Ties Quote
Randy Twizzle Posted November 28, 2005 Author Report Posted November 28, 2005 Hey I'm a big boy and I'd handle whatever trouble comes my way. There was at least one unintentionally funny thing that occured while the cop (who was a dead-ringer for actor Patrick (Puddy) Warburton) put me through my paces. I took a whole battery of tests and I thought I was doing pretty damn well, but I messed up in the counting backwards from 100 and my 7 year old daughter who was in the car with a couple of her friends yelled out "Daddy is such a Doby Head" "Doby" is one of her favorite terms of derision. Like I said, I'm not proud of my conduct, but as former vice-president Hobart Garrett (he served under McKinley) once said "Sir I am mortified, but when I reach the end of my days I can say that I did it my way." catesta Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 Oh great, now the joke is you had kids in the car with you. May I ask what the point of this thread is/was? Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 Kids in the car with you?? What the hell?? Quote

Growing up out west it was always DUI. Out here it's universally DWI. Quote
bertrand Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 This is the most repugnanat thread ever. Bertrand. Quote
Brad Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 (edited) I don't know about repugnant but I don't think it's good form to be DWI with your kids in the car. Pretty bad in my view. Wonder what the cop -- or your wife -- said. If I were caught DWI, I don't think I'd post it and be held up to ridicule. Edited November 28, 2005 by Brad Quote

I don't think Mr. Twizzle has made one sincere post in this thread. That includes the topic itself. It seems as if it's nothing but a bad joke. Quote

I can't even do that sober. When sober I always hestitate doing the alphabet backwards around w-v-u (hmm, West Virginia University) and another place too that varies. Um, not that I count the alphabet backwards often (only comes up when talking about DUI tests.) Maybe if I got drunk I'd do better. Quote
