Alfred Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 I received the new Enrico Rava - Tati today and was suprised that it came without this nice ECM slipcase. It is sealed like any other CD. Will ECM no longer use these cardboard slipcases? Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 (edited) Fine with me. I always toss mine in the recycling bin. Just unnecessary extra packaging. Always a duplicate of the images on the front of the booklet and back of the tray-card (at least in every case I've seen - minus the UPC barcode). I say – good riddance!! Question for those who like 'em –– whatever for?? Edited November 11, 2005 by Rooster_Ties Quote
sal Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 Question for those who like 'em –– whatever for?? ← Yeah, the Marc Johnson CD didn't have one either. I like them because they keep the jewel case from getting scratched or cracked. Quote

Ron S Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 I like them because they keep the jewel case from getting scratched or cracked. You should do like I do and just keep on hand a supply of different kinds of jewel cases ordered from here. That way your CD cases will always look nice and purdy and brand-spankin'-new. Quote

What would I give for all the missing original LP inner sleeves ..... Quote
Ron S Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 [Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaargghhhh?! (... my heart ...) What would I give for all the missing original LP inner sleeves ..... But at least those served a purpose--protecting the LP from getting scratched. The cardboard jewel case sleeves are just a marketing gimmick (although I confess that I keep them when the CD comes with one). Quote
PHILLYQ Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 They're very good for shipping discs- they help prevent damage to the jewel box. Quote
rostasi Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 I think the worst are those very hard, see-thru plastic ones that accompanied the Brian Eno CD re-releases. They were so tightly fitted that you had to cut them just to get access to the jewel box! Quote

Same thing with the back image on the latest Lloyd Quote

CJ Shearn Posted November 12, 2005 Report Posted November 12, 2005 I like the cardboard slipcases. do you mean the plastic see thru ones like Miles "Round About Midnight" Legacy edition, and Trane's ALS deluxe? Quote
Green Dolphin Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 The cardboard slips are a pain in the ass but still found on the UK issues,at least with the aforementioned Rava and Johnson. Quote
