mgraham333 Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 Many of you have read here that I'm getting married. Well the big day is this Saturday (Nov 12th). The countdown is ticking away! A fellow board member (dova) is leading a quartet that is playing at our reception. These guys sound amazing! and couldn't be a nicer group of guys. We're excited to have them play for us and our family and friends. I'll try to get some pictures posted afterwards. Matt: Do you need a Jazz Trio or Quartet for your wedding. I can't believe we don't know each other being from Tulsa but I haven't made many posts. Too busy listening and playing Live Jazz. Seriously, I can hook you up with Jazz entertainment and even play drums for you. Best Wishes and remember that after you are married, each cd you buy you have to buy something nice for your wife in return. Dova (John Dellavedova) ← Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 Keep the band away from the bride. Best wishes for all. Quote

mgraham333 Posted November 14, 2005 Author Report Posted November 14, 2005 Well folks the deed is done. I'm a married man. And officially a member of the club of those who have to clear all CD purchases with the boss.... just kidding - Lora is very supportive of my "habit." We had a lovely ceremony - although most of it is a blur and the reception... WOW! John Dellavedova (Dova) and his quartet were fantastic! A number of guests complimented them and asked us were we found them. Everyone was very impressed - most of all Lora and I. John and the guys handled all of our special requests. They played some classic Blue Note tunes including Song For My Father as a tribute to the Dads. They really played with class. The guys: John Dellavedova (drums) Jeff Shadley (trumpet, vocal) Tim Shadley (keyboard) Ron Adams (bass) John is a really swingin' drummer. He's the engine that keeps it all going. Jeff has an amazing tone - so warm and inviting. His vocals are smooth as Sinatra. He's no "wedding singer" and too good for any lounge. Brother Tim can comp with the best of them - which is no knock to his solos either. Ron's bass lines were ever present, flowing with the tunes right where the needed to go. These guys are well known in the limited jazz circles Tulsa has to offer, but they need to get in a studio and start selling CDs on CDBaby or some other outlet. I'd be first in line. This my THANKS to them for making our special day even more special! Quote
dova Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 Dear Matt and Lora: It was a pleasure to play at your wedding and what a beautiful ceremony and reception it was. The atmosphere at Tarp Chapel was special, the food awesome, and thanks for the kind words on the quartet. If there is anything I can do for you in the future, let me know. For starters, after you have come down from the wedding euphoria and honeymoon. I want you to come over for a listening session. You bring a handfull of your favorite cds, I'll invite my friend Phil aka "Deep Groove" and he'll bring over some vintage vinyl and we'll go for it. Who knows, we may turn you into a vinyl junkie and audiophile which can cost you some serious bucks on the equipment. I love this chat board for getting us together. Thanks again and congratulations.
