neveronfriday Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 I always wait until stuff becomes available at a reasonable price in Europe from my usual haunts. I've completely stopped importing from the States because it is a total, absolute and complete pain in the arse. There, I said it. Quote
Alexander Hawkins Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 Really great track. I'm an absolute sucker - those little solo interjections around the 5'20" moment KILL...and the tune coming back? That's the champagne moment! Jim - love what you do with the registrations here. Quote

Git yer organissimo fix-issimo! ← Thanks Jim, I already have the first CD (love it). The problem is not really the shipping or whatever, it's on the European (German) side here. Sometimes I'm lucky and things go the way they should, other times I'm faced with numbskulls who I have to debate endlessly with just to get stuff I don't even have to pay any fees on out of customs. I've been importing stuff ever since the beginning 80s, on a regular basis, but now I've finally given up. It's become a total hassle in my area here and it's just not worth the trouble. Even rarer CDs usually show up somewhere in Europe with the dealers I regularly buy from, so I just have to be a bit more patient, that's all. BTW: Even going the Mosaic surface shipping route didn't cut it for me anymore this time (the shipment was held back by some moron in customs who DEMANDED I personally show up to pay the fees (they used to allow payment by transfer and faxing of receipts so they could detrmnine what I had to pay ... not anymore). Summary, I've told customs to shove the last three shipments I was expecting sideways up their rear ends ... and haven't heard from them since. I also vowed to myself not to order overseas anymore. That limits the number of Mosaics I can buy, for example, but all in all, everything is available here (or through Caiman, the only shipments that regularly make it through). Besides, I have several thousand CDs to listen to. Quote

Ban 'em! :bwallace2: ← There are people on this board that freeload my man.... I myself, usually give a bi-monthly contribution by paypal with that little dollar sign link at the top right corner of the board. I figure this is a place and a band worth supporting since I gain so many insights through this board. I have stopped my subscriptions to Jazztimes and Downbeat since I have AAJ and Organissimo as well as my radio gig. It bewilders me that even though Jim is providing this amazing board to all of us for free and that he pays hosting fees monthly, some do not give. BTW, I have the CD and love it! Can't wait for more exclusive tracks! This is a monster band. I finally had the chance to see them in Pittsburgh and despite it being a monday night and having to help ease the 500-lb m-f down and back up a flight of stairs, the gig was amazing. Matt Quote
